Mabel Trott FitzSimons scrapbook, ca. 1938-1973.

Originally two scrapbooks, now combined into one volume with pages of the earlier scrapbook (ca. 1930s-1950s) added to the later volume compiled by Mabel Trott FitzSimons. The volume contains clippings with occasional annotations, poems, notes, a leaflet, a letter, genealogical information, and a photograph. Clippings contain information about Charleston, South Carolina architecture (including colored depictions of buildings - some no longer extant), history, personalities, and events as well as articles about lowcountry plantations. Poems include a typescript poem about St. Michael's Episcopal Church (Charleston, S.C.) and a handwritten copy of a poem about Charleston. Handwritten notes contain information about family members and historical events. A typescript note from a conveyance book relates to the conveyance of a lot on Meeting Street (Charleston, S.C.) in 1800. Additional documents include a leaflet (ca. 1950s) entitled "Unique and historic Charleston, South Carolina," a page from a commercially produced book or notebook which depicts the Rohco Anodicator which tests the thickness of anodic coatings on aluminum, a letter (1938) from the New England Historic Genealogical Society about membership, and genealogical information about the Cleland family of Charleston (S.C.). A photograph depicts a locomotive engine and six men including Henry Rivers and Mr. Chamberlain.
